AQI - Air Quality Index

On-line Update Systems       Updates HOURLY

The (HDMAE) Haifa District Municipal Association for the Environment monitors the Haifa District air quality at 13 locations throughout the area.
These data are now being brought to the attention of the public on-line and in real time, as is done in the USA and in several European countries.
The Data regarding the concentrations of the pollutants in the air is collected and reported as an Air Quality Index (AQI) in accordance with the following equation:

AQI = 100 - PSI
        Where PSI = Pollutant Standard Index,

PSI is calculated relatively to the Israeli Standards for Ozone, Particulate Matter, Sulfur Dioxide and Nitrogen Oxides and according to the methodology developed by US EPA (United States Environmental Protection Agency).
Index figures and colors enable to recognize whether the air quality in a particular location is rated as Good, Moderate or Poor as shown in the chart on the map.

These ratings are based on the highest concentration measured for any one of these pollutants at each of the monitoring stations.
Pressing the icon below enables to see the cumulative data of the current day as well as of the previous day presented in separate tables.
Since the AQI is reported on-line, the data changes constantly - hourly.
